What spa packages exist and what they include
The difference between the spa packages comes down mainly to one number: how many procedures per night are included in the price. That determines whether a stay is more of a relaxing break or a medically supervised treatment. Prices are deliberately left out here — they depend on the hotel, room category and season, and belong on the booking site.
What every treatment stay includes
A treatment stay includes accommodation with half board, the initial and final medical examination, the written final report, the prescribed procedures and the drinking cure at the mineral springs. The shorter relaxation stay is also available without a medical examination; in that case it is not a treatment stay but a wellness stay with individual procedures.
The packages compared
The names follow the operator’s 2025 treatment brochure; on the booking site the packages may be named differently. The durations given apply to the usual offer of the Marienbad houses. The minimum length depends on the hotel and the package: at the Ensana Butterfly, treatment stays start from five nights and the Intensive Treatment Stay from six. Ask the operator for the current minimum at a particular house.

Who decides which procedures you get
The package sets how many procedures per night are included — which ones they are is decided solely by the spa physician at the initial examination, based on the diagnosis and your current condition. You cannot put the programme together yourself, and that is the difference from a wellness stay. If a procedure does not agree with you, the plan is changed; tell your spa physician.
What the physician chooses from

- Mineral baths, dry gas baths in Mariengas, gas injections, peat wraps (up to three per week), inhalations, time and exercise outdoors.
- Therapeutic rehabilitation
- Individual or group exercise therapy, movement therapy in the swimming pool, physiotherapy.
- Further procedures
- Massages (up to three per week), lymphatic drainage, electrotherapy, magnetic field therapy, laser, cryotherapy, ultrasound, paraffin wraps, oxygen therapy, Lavatherm.
What the basic laboratory examination covers
A biochemical blood test covering blood sugar, cholesterol and other blood lipid values, liver values, kidney function and uric acid, plus a urine test. It is included in the treatment stays and serves the spa physician as the basis for the treatment plan.
Programmes at the Nové Lázně house
Beyond the spa packages, the Nové Lázně house offers four programmes that begin with a thorough diagnostic workup. All of them include the Medical Check-Up and build on it.

Medical Check-Up
For guests who first want to know where they stand.
A diagnostic programme with a comprehensive assessment of your current state of health. The aim is to identify possible risks and early signs of disease. Based on the laboratory values, the instrumental examinations and a nutritional consultation, the medical team then draws up an individual treatment plan.

De-Stress
For guests under sustained pressure.
Includes the Medical Check-Up and adds an assessment of your current stress level and its effect on your health. The medical team then puts together an individual procedure plan; guidance on recognising and dealing with stress factors is included. A programme of this kind does not replace psychotherapy or psychiatric treatment.

Healthy Aging
For guests focused on quality of life in later years.
Includes the Medical Check-Up, followed by an individually assembled programme using the local natural healing resources. The focus is on habits that can be continued at home and on a sustainable balance between work and recovery.

Weight Loss
For guests who are overweight, under medical supervision.
Includes the Medical Check-Up and works on eating habits and lifestyle. The background is medical: excess weight and obesity place a strain on the musculoskeletal system and are among the risk factors for heart and circulation. The programme is accompanied by the medical team, based on the principles of a balanced diet and more exercise in daily life.
Modern therapies and equipment
Alongside mineral baths, peat and carbon dioxide gas, the spa houses now also offer modern equipment. This overview describes what each device is, how the treatment works and which hotel has it. Treatments are given on the prescription or recommendation of the spa physician.

High-power induction system (Super Inductive System)
The device uses electromagnetic energy. During the treatment you feel a light tingling and muscle contractions; the intensity can be adjusted at any time to how you feel.

A physical-therapy device in which selected areas of the body are treated with laser light. Which area is treated depends on the physician’s prescription.

AI massage robot Rocozyer “Anna”
A robotic arm with six joints that combines massage and radiofrequency (RF) heat in a single treatment. An AI system recognises the body and a 3D camera captures it in real time. In our spas the robot is called “Anna” — from the operator’s name Ensana, “EnsAnna”.

Artromot S4 — motorised shoulder splint
Movement therapy with a motorised splint: the device moves the shoulder joint slowly and repeatedly within a set range of motion (continuous passive motion).

PelviPower — pelvic floor diagnostics and therapy
A system from the Swiss manufacturer PonteMed AG with two parts. Diagnostics: sensors in the seat record how the pelvic floor muscles work; contraction, relaxation and endurance appear as a graph on the screen, and a doctor or physiotherapist evaluates the result. Therapeutic chair: functional magnetic stimulation using repeated short pulses of a magnetic field. Both are done in everyday clothing. An ultrasound examination through the abdominal wall, which measures the onset and length of the muscle contraction, is also available.

Phototherapy: UV 311 nm, and red and near-infrared light
UV phototherapy: the skin is exposed to narrow-band UVB at 311 nm, about 20 minutes. Red-light phototherapy (called “IR” in the leaflet): light at 600–700 nm, often also near-infrared at 700–1,000 nm, about 30 minutes. Both are given on a doctor’s prescription; bookings are made at the spa reception.
Operator’s note: Contraindications to UV phototherapy according to the leaflet: skin tumours, photodermatosis, photosensitive psoriasis, medication with a photosensitising effect, active tuberculosis, systemic lupus, pregnancy.

Max Pulse — vascular and stress measurement
A diagnostic device (Max Pulse Medicore). A sensor on the wrist records the pulse wave, and the device evaluates values for heart rate, elasticity and patency of the blood vessels, activity of the autonomic nervous system and stress load. The physician uses the results as one of several sources of information; the measurement can be repeated and compared over time.

InBody and nutrition counselling
Body-composition analysis: the device measures body water, the amount and percentage of fat and muscle mass, and how they are distributed across arms, legs and trunk. A nutrition therapist then explains the results, calculates BMI and basal metabolic rate, reviews your current diet and suggests changes.

Local cryotherapy
A treatment of one chosen area of the body in which cold (−18 °C) and heat (+41 °C) alternate in quick succession. Temperature and number of cycles are set for each therapy.

Cryo T-Shock STAR and HP EVO 4.0 laser scanner
Two devices that have been added to the treatment department since January 2026. Cryo T-Shock STAR is a controlled thermal therapy, that is, a combination of heat and cold. The HP EVO 4.0 is a high-power laser with a scanner that works with pulsed light.

Hydromassage centre
A new centre with six units. Four Hydrojet tubs: a dry water massage on a heated water bed, where the massage is delivered through a waterproof membrane without direct contact with the water. Two Hydroxeur tubs: an underwater whirlpool massage with nozzles built into the tub, which can be adjusted individually.

How many procedures per day do you get in Marienbad?
That depends on the package booked: Healthy in Mariánské Lázně includes one procedure per night, the Intensive Spa Stay two, the Traditional Spa Stay three and the Intensive Treatment Stay four. Which procedures these are in practice is decided by the spa physician after the initial examination.
What is included in a spa package?
For a treatment stay: accommodation with half board, the initial and final medical examination, the written final report, the basic laboratory examination, the prescribed procedures and the drinking cure at the mineral springs. From the traditional stay upwards, an on-call medical and nursing service is added. Travel and the local spa tax are paid separately by the guest.
What is the minimum length of a spa stay?
The minimum length depends on the hotel and the package. In the usual offer of the Marienbad houses treatment stays start at seven nights, at the Ensana Butterfly from five and the Intensive Treatment Stay from six. The longer series has its reason: the recognised professional minimum for a balneotherapy course is at least ten procedures over at least ten days. Shorter stays from two nights are available as a relaxation format with one procedure per night.
Can I choose the procedures myself?
Not for a treatment stay: the number and combination are decided solely by the spa physician after the initial examination, and that is exactly what distinguishes a cure from a wellness stay. For Healthy in Mariánské Lázně, by contrast, you choose from a fixed list of nine procedures. If a prescribed procedure does not agree with you, tell your spa physician so the plan can be changed.
What is the difference between a spa cure and a wellness stay?
A spa cure requires a medical examination: the spa physician makes the diagnosis, prescribes an individual programme, follows its progress and records the outcome in writing. A wellness stay is a freely booked relaxation trip with procedures chosen to taste, without a medical indication and without medical supervision.
