Drinking spring

Anthony Spring (Antonínův pramen)

Refreshing acidulous water

The spring of the lower town: its pavilion in Úšovice is popular with locals, who come to fill their bottles. A refreshing, very drinkable acidulous water — an ideal stop on the walk to the Ferdinand Spring.

The people of Úšovice have known the spring for ages; it is not used for the drinking cure but serves as a refreshing drink. Together with the Ferdinand Spring it makes a natural goal for a walk through the lower town — and locals consider it the best "table" acidulous water.

A little history

Old descriptions make it hard to tell whether today’s Anthony Spring or the nearby Prelate Spring is meant. What is certain is that in 1933 the spring was captured by the railway embankment and piped to a drinking vase on the Úšovice village green. In 1986 the architect M. Brixa built today’s modern roof over it and renewed the supply.

How the drinking cure works

The water is sipped slowly, usually before meals — traditionally from a spouted spa cup that guides it past the front teeth. Which spring, how much and how often is set by your spa physician, because every water acts differently. This page informs; it is no substitute for medical advice.
