King of the Spruces
A memorial spruce that germinated around 1818 — the year Marienbad was declared a public spa — and grew to 39 metres. A storm felled it in 2017, but the mighty trunk remains protected where it lies; walkers still make the pilgrimage to the "fallen king" along the forest avenues.
